This interactive session will delve into Career Construction Theory (CCT), developed by Mark Savickas, with a focus on using The Career Style Interview to uncover the deeper motivations and narratives behind career choices. Career Counselors/Coaches will explore how personal stories, shaped by subconscious influences and past experiences, can inform and guide career development and decision-making. A key component of the session will be a video featuring Dr. Savickas demonstrating the Career Style Interview in practice, providing career counselors/coaches with real-world examples of how to effectively apply this method.
Presentation Objectives:
1. Career Counselors/Coaches will learn the foundational principles of Career Construction Theory, including the importance of life narratives and the role of meaning-making in career development/decision-making.
2. Career Counselors/Coaches will gain practice tools for applying CCT with their clients, including The Career Style Interview for narrative career counseling and goal-setting.
3. Career Counselors/Coaches will gain greater self-awareness regarding their values, interests, and motivations, encouraging a deeper understanding of their career choices.
